Life has and will always be busy busy, but here are a few updates on the fabulous Miss Kiya.
1) Walking: Nope, not yet. She is still trying to stand up in the middle of the room and is getting better. She has also finally with some prompting and A LOT of dramatics started to push a walker toy across the room. They have her do this at daycare and we do it at home. She usually screams at us while walking of course. At this point we are just waiting for her to decide that she wants to do it. We don't carry her as many places anymore, we make her walk. She will do it eventually and when she wants to not when we want her to.
2) Scalp issues: Well, we are on week 1 of oral meds complete. We felt after much thought that we had no other choice. She got a patch of ringwom under her eye and we think in her ear and then we found an additional 3 spots on her head. It didn't look like ringworm but it sure was acting like it. We tried to get into a dermatologist but they were booked until June. Not fun. We hated to do it but we were outnumbered at this point. The plus side is that Kiya LOVES the medicine.
3) Speech: Kiya is learning her name though it comes out "teeya" or "deeya" sometimes but on occasion she says Kiya. Too cute. She has learned the word "go" but her favorite word is still "no." She can also say "hot dog", and "itsy bitsy". She has learned to shout which is fun. She talks non stop all the time and if she isn't talking she is singing. Usually ABC song or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We even catch her doing the hand motions for Twinkle Twinkle when she is singing to herself. She is also trying to say her teacher's name which is Staycee but comes (taycee) most of the time.
Kiya is such a joy to watch. She is learning so much and growing so much. We think she is going through another growth spurt. I can't wait for her 18 month check up to see how much she weighs and how tall she is. We are hoping for 24 lbs and we are sure she is at least 33 inches long. Some of her 18 month pants are starting to look a little short. Bring on short season please :)
We still have the occasional tantrum which is to be expected and they are usually frustration based that she can't get where she wants to and no one is going to help her get there. She is smart and can figure it out so we are not caving to her dramatics. I think once she walks that will help with the tantrums.
Kiya is such a feisty and energetic kid and is always on the go. She is wearing us parents out by the end of the day but we wouldn't have it any other way.

The big Green Monster
A little back story before I explain the Monster.
When Kiya was in for a sick baby visit a couple weeks ago, the pediatrician, that I very much dislike was the only one available at the two clinics closest to us, made a passing comment that Kiya's ears are asymmetrical and that she has a flat head and would likely need to wear a DOC band to correct it. She said nothing else and barely answered my questions and sent me on my way with the antibiotics for Kiya's ear infection, a referral to a pediatric therapist and a TON of anxiety.
No one who regularly interacts with Kiya thinks she had a flat head but I made the appointment with the therapist anyway. I was going NUTS. I truly believe all medical websites should be banned for new parents. They are AWFUL!
After a week of obsessively checking Kiya's head every chance I got, we had our appointment. The physical therapist was nice enough and she was willing to explain things which was helpful. She measured Kiya's head and said her ratios of length to width were all very good. She did think Kiya's ears were a little off but let me tell you this was a less than accurate test as it involved trying to get Kiya to sit still and then using her fingers as the measuring device. Anyway, after hearing what she had to say, we opted not to go the DOC band route as much research suggests that they aren't effective in children over 10 months, it cost $3000 and the therapist felt that Kiya's head shape wouldn't necessarily change and wasn't in anyway severe or even moderate.
While there though, we did discover that Kiya has TERRIBLE posture. She slouches. It is very obvious if you look for it. She has stronger neck muscles on one side which is part of the issue. A lot of this stems for her finger sucking. She leans that way to suck on her fingers so her body has gotten comfortable that way. The therapist and I went through a bunch of exercises that we are starting with Kiya to help straighten her out. We will see the therapist again in a few weeks and then decide what to do next. One option may be calling Birth to 3 again and having them come out and reevaluate her and proceed that way, but we shall see.
One of the things the therapist suggested was to get a big yoga ball and use it to help Kiya stretch her back and core muscles as well as practicing shifting her weight from one side to the other. So obediently I went out and bought one. I got the smallest one I could and yet we now have....the Big Green Monster.
Kiya is terrified of the ball. This came out of nowhere as she was fine with the ball at the therapists office. She freaked out. We worked with her slowly and sat on the ball with her. She is getting better but will only bounce on it, rock side to side on it and stretch her back on it. We haven't been able to successfully stretch her tummy out on it as that freaks her out. We will keep at it and hope she gets used to it. The first day if we even walked by it she would grab on to us harder and start to fuss. By Sunday she was able to sit on the floor next to it and pound on it with her hands.
So it will be slow going with that one. We do have other exercises to work with her on also which she isn't always a fan of hence maybe the need to call in an outside therapist so we aren't always the bad guy. Time will tell. We have noticed more of a desire to pull herself up on just about anything and everything and she will even venture for 1 independent step before lunging forward and laughing hysterically and last night she was laying on the floor and the got herself into a sitting position. I know most kids do this long before this age but she just never did. The therapist said it is likely due to the way her muscles have developed so the exercises will help.
We are anxious to see Kiya's progress with all of this. It was nice to hear the therapist say that overall developmentally Kiya is doing great and showing progress which is a very good sign. She felt that Kiya's fine motor skills were really quite good and that for gross motor she was at the low end of average. She would be more worried if the desire wasn't there. The desire is there she just needs a little push in the right direction and the therapist said it was totally fine that Kiya wasn't walking. We knew that but still nice to hear.

7 months home and a doctor visit
We have been home 7 months today with our princess. Wow. So what did we do to celebrate....I took Kiya to her 12 month check up :)
The numbers:
Weight: just under 21 lbs (42nd percentile)
Height: 29 1/4 inches (48th percentile)
Head circumference: 44.5 cm (29th percentile)
So as a reference, Kiya was in the less than 3rd percentile in weight and head circumference and between the 5th and 10th percentile for height.
Development:
Food: The nurse was shocked when I told her Kiya took herself off of bottles and is solely on sippy cups of whole milk. She said we were lucky. I just think we have a big girl who knows what she wants :) She did say Kiya should be drinking 16oz of milk a day. We are a tad shy of this but she said yogurt counts so we should be fine. She encouraged us to let Kiya try and feed herself finger foods. I told her Kiya has been doing that for awhile. We have good and bad days. Some days Kiya wants to feed herself and other days she doesn't. Introducing the spoon is next...beware pugs, floors, blinds and anything else near her while eating.
Sleep: The nurse asked us how Kiya is sleeping at night and for naps. I told her that unless she is sick or teething, Kiya will sleep 11-12 hours through the night. As for naps, we are in transition to one nap so some days she will take 2 shorter naps totaling near 3 hours or one long nap of 2-2 1/2 hours. She then asked us if Kiya falls asleep by herself or if we rock her to sleep. She has always fallen asleep by herself. At this point the nurse was looking at me like I was nuts. She said it was too good to be true.
Speech: Kiya was quite vocal while we were there. In July, Birth to 3 said that she was delayed about 36% in her speech. Well, the doctor now thinks that Kiya is ahead of the curve. She says mama, dada, daw (dog), hi, na (no) along with a whole bunch of other sounds like nana, lala, baba, ssss, zzz, ga. She also will point at what she wants and grunt a little to let us know she wants it. Usually it is her sippy cup she wants and can't reach other times it is Mama's dinner :)
Motor skills: The doctor said they usually expect most 1 year olds to pull them self up to a stand and Kiya only does this with our fingers. She doesn't really cruise on furniture but she did yesterday take one sideways step while holding on to the coffee table. She has been trying to walk a lot more so it is only a matter of time. The doctor also said that since at 5 months she couldn't really stand up on our laps and had little muscle tone that it may take her a little longer for her to fully walk on her own. She asked about crawling, rolling, etc. So we told her about Kiya's butt scooting, rolling antics and she said that is all great. She asked if she is continuing to show increased strength and desire to move and do things and I said yes. She said that is all that matters.
Overall, the doctor felt Kiya was growing and developing well. While there Kiya got her MMR, chicken pox, pneumonia booster, and H1N1 shot. She is also having a TB skin test done.
In other news, Kiya will transition to her new room at daycare the last week of December. Why not sooner....well a spot opened up in the room we wanted so we took it. It meant delaying the transition to her big girl room but we get the teacher we know and love. And more importantly it is the teacher that Kiya grew to love and trust.

What's new with Kiya?
I know it has been awhile since I have blogged about how Kiya is doing. So here is the update on my 1 year old drama queen :)
--She is fully on whole milk. We are using the rest of the formula in her oatmeal banana cereal that she loves just to finish it up.
--Kiya took herself off of bottles. It was like she woke up one day and said to herself that "I am one now and a big girl so I don't need a bottle." Prior to this we had cut her down to two bottles a day but she was done with bottles all together. We just put her milk in a sippy cup and she drinks what she wants. In the morning, Dave puts her in the high chair with her sippy and some finger foods before she heads off to daycare. At night we sit down for story time with her sippy. She doesn't drink a ton of milk but she drinks more and more each day. She didn't love formula either. And she eats yogurt everyday, drinks milk with her meals and has started to eat cottage cheese too.
--Kiya has become a master of scooting on smooth non carpeted floors. She got herself into a corner at daycare and couldn't figure out how to go backwards. On carpet she can turn herself around in a circle or she just rolls wherever she needs to go. She loves to roll around.
--Kiya LOVES her bath time. Seriously, it is so funny we taped it last night. She splashes A LOT. I mean water all over the bathroom floor a lot. She giggles and even full on belly laughs. She puts toys on her head and she scoots all over the tub. It gets a little scary sometimes as she just goes and almost falls. This summer we are getting her a kiddie pool and some swim lessons.
--Kiya still loves to stand. Problem is she hasn't fully figured out how to pull herself up yet so she fusses when she can't get it. She is trying which is a good sign. She will get there. We just support her. Today in fact she took one step for her activity standing walker over to the coffee table.
--And the drama continues, Kiya has some pretty strong opinions in her little head and oh does she let us know when she isn't happy.
--Kiya loves to imitate sounds. She is getting really close to being able to say "doggie". She still doesn't say mama. She looks at me when we say it but won't repeat it.
--We haven't been teaching Kiya sign language but they use it at daycare. She definitely knows the sign for all done and doesn't hesitate to tell us when she is finished eating. It is really cute.
So there you have the run down of life with a busy 1 year old.

11 months old :)
I can hardly believe it but my little Peanut is 11 months old today. WOW. How did this happen??? She has gone from a tiny little 5 1/2 month old infant with little muscle tone to a strong, little girl who loves to laugh, clap, stand, talk and walk. She is almost a toddler.
A toddler??? AHHHHHHHH. Baby proofing 101 will be taking place in my house very soon. I really think she will skip crawling for now as she just loves to stand and walk holding onto our hands. She is getting faster and more confident every day.
We have taught her how to make the touchdown sign and the clap when we are watching football. She LOVES to show off and does this often. We say Kiya, touchdown and hands go above the head and then she claps with a HUGE smile. So sweet. I know kids aren't supposed to watch TV but we live in Wisconsin and you might not survive if you don't route for the UW Badgers and the Packers.
She just amazes me every day. We are pretty sure we are going to have a spirited little girl. She already is showing signs of this. The other day I gave her her sippy cup in the high chair and she grabbed it and immediately threw it on the floor and proceeded to smile at me. So cute yet.... We have also noticed that she is very interested in feeding the dogs from the high chair. She hands crackers, fruit, pasta and anything else she can pick up off the side of the high chair, mostly to Badger. It has become quite the problem as most of the food on the tray is finding its way on the floor. We are thinking the dogs are going to have to go outside during dinner time.
We have tried to say "Kiya that is your food" or "Let's not feed the dogs" as if we say "No" to her (which we have done a very few times) she looks at us and then builds up to this whimpering cry. It is kind of pathetic but it breaks my heart too. I know there is nothing wrong with her but hate to see her cry. We are limiting the use of the word "No" so that it won't be one of the first words she says back to us. Not sure if that will work but trying to be more creative in our redirection.
So as we gear up to our little one being not so little and 1, we continue to enjoy every day with our sweet little girl. She is the light of our lives and we are so blessed to be her parents.

Feeling Frustrated
I think the title sums up how both Kiya and I are feeling. I am frustrated because I want to help her and she is frustrated because she wants to be on the go.
I know that given the opportunities and the time Kiya will be on the go. Whether she chooses to crawl or skip that and go straight to walking is yet to be seen. She for awhile would scoot on her butt and still does a little but doesn't get very far. The problem is she so badly wants to get places and reach things. She is so frustrated. I can see it on her face and I can hear it as she screams at me. She drops a toy and it falls out of reach and she looks at me and screams in pure frustration. She will try to reach for it and try again and then just gives up. You can almost hear the sigh as she stops trying.
She does roll over but not often. She LOVES to stand which for a baby who couldn't bare hardly any weight on her legs 5 months ago is great. She will take a few steps when we hold her fingers and took a sideways step while holding on to the coffee table. She doesn't pull herself up on anything yet but if you get her started she will do the rest.
She is not outside of any norm for her gross motor skills. She is still right in that target range. We do think there are a few things holding her back including the possibility that she was premature and her low birth weight. Things will not know for sure but are highly likely. The IAC we used when we got out referral is guessing she was a few weeks early and probably weighed less than 3 or 4 lbs at birth since she was barely 6lbs at 6 weeks.
Her fine motor skills are actually pretty advanced for her age. She has mastered the pincher grasp, helps to dress and undress herself, can drink from a sippy cup unassisted, can feed herself, she transfer toys from hand to hand, puts things on her head, she waves bye bye and claps. Her verbal skills are also progressing nicely and I can't wait for her to say mama but she is stuck on dada which I admit is pretty adorable.
I just wish I could wave the magic mommy wand to help her. I know she needs to do this by herself and I need to be a strong parent and not give in. I have to learn to be okay with her frustration (and mine) and hope that frustration translates itself into movement. When we talked with our doctor she is not concerned. She said the fact that the desire is there is great and that growth and development are progressing is great.
So the game plan is to give her the opportunities to figure things out and keep encouraging her.

Her verbal skills are also progressing nicely and I can't wait for her to say mama but she is stuck on dada which I admit is pretty adorable.
I just wish I could wave the magic mommy wand to help her. I know she needs to do this by herself and I need to be a strong parent and not give in. I have to learn to be okay with her frustration (and mine) and hope that frustration translates itself into movement. When we talked with our doctor she is not concerned. She said the fact that the desire is there is great and that growth and development are progressing is great.
So the game plan is to give her the opportunities to figure things out and keep encouraging her.

The big 10 months :)
KIYA IS 10 MONTHS OLD!!!!!
I can hardly believe it. In a few short weeks she will have been with us as long as she was at the care center in Ethiopia. Wow....
Here are 10 of the many thousands of things we love about our little girl:
1) She is learning how to give kisses.
2) She has quite the range in her vocal abilities from a low monster like sound to a very high pitched sound.
3) She says Dada a lot and when in her high pitched mode she squints her eyes.
4) She is learning to take her first steps. And just yesterday while holding on to the table took a sideways step all by herself.
5) She give hugs :)
6) She reaches up for us when she wants to be held.
7) She can eat Cheerios like a champ
8) Bananas are still her favorite food
9) She is taking baths in the big girl bath tub with her favorite whale cup of course.
10) She loves to laugh with us and just because and it is truly the greatest sound.
We are truly honored and blessed to be Kiya's parents. How this little girl found her way into our hearts and home amazes me to this day. She is a perfect fit. She was meant to be our little girl and I thank God every day for her.

Baby steps....
No really. Baby steps. Kiya is taking baby steps. She may not crawl or pull herself up on furniture yet but she will take a few steps while holding on to our fingers :) We couldn't be prouder of our little girl.
Things are going well. We took Kiya in for her 9 month check up this week even though she will be 10 months old next week :)
Stats:
Weight: 18.2lbs (27th percentile)
Height: 28 inches (52nd percentile)
Head: 44.3 cm (25th percentile)
Not too shabby :) For reference she was 12lbs at homecoming in May so over 6lbs and has grown almost 3 inches :) She is on a steady line on the growth charts and her doctor is pleased with her growth.
The one problem is her weight puts her in 6-9month clothes but her height in 12 month. So right now all of her pants are a little big in the waist and her pajamas barely fit. We have new pajamas for her it just hasn't been cold enough for flannel.
We are excited to see what lies ahead. There are lots of firsts coming for Kiya and for us as parents. Her first Halloween pumpkin and costume (she will be a pink butterfly), first Thanksgiving and birthday, first Christmas:) Exciting months lie ahead for our little family of 3.
Little Man update: Background check paperwork went to our local social worker today :) Homestudy update in 2 weeks :)

4 months ago
Four months ago today we walked up those 4 flights of stairs and met this adorable little girl. Here is what she looked like then
and here is what she looks like now:
She is getting so big and has such a personality. She is starting to really express herself and she let's us know if she is not happy that we took something away from her. She has always been kind of obsessed with this plastic whale cup that came with her infant tub. Well now that she sits up and plays with toys in the tub she just doesn't want to let it go, even when bath time is over and it is time to put on her pajamas.

To think 4 months ago she couldn't sit up or stand or laugh or pick things up. Now she does all of that and so much more. Just last night she ate a Stage 3 jar of chicken and mixed veggies. It had some pretty big chunks in it. She struggled a little but overall did really well with it and ate the whole jar.
We are truly blessed to be Kiya's parents and we are so looking forward to watching her grow and learn new things every day.

The fabulous weekend adventures of Kiya
Kiya had a very busy weekend. Here is a recap :)
Saturday:
--Went to State Street for a little stroll. Had lunch (well mom and dad) at Dotty Dumplings (best burgers in Madison) and then Babcock ice cream.
--After her nap, went to the park for the first time and swung on a swing. She LOVED it.
--Showed off for Mom and Dad, her new ability to clap. She is just so cute and very proud of herself.
Sunday:
--Went to CornFest :)
--Attended the first birthday party for her friend Mia. I promise I will post pictures of Princess Mia and the Fabulous Kiya. They are so cute together and their names rhyme :)
--She decided it was time to actually sit up in the bath tub instead of just lounging. She was splashing the water with her hands and grabbing her toys. Usually she would just chill, kick the water and try to grab the wash cloth.
--Again decided to impress Mom and Dad with a new skill. She grabbed her bottle and actually got the nipple in her mouth and drank. She has been able to grab and hold her bottle for awhile but usually would just play with it and didn't quite have the aim to her mouth down pat. Well now she does. :)
We are more and more amazed by Kiya every day. She is really working things out. You can almost see the little wheels spinning in her head. It is just such a neat feeling. She is still trying to figure out the crawling thing but she will get there and soon probably. Better start baby proofing. In the mean time she loves to scoot :)
I have recently gone on quite the shopping spree for Miss Kiya as well. You see she is still a tad on the small size for her age but she has these long legs which are chubby and just wonderful. Well those legs are pushing her out of 6-9 month cloths and right into 12 month. WOW. Do you have any idea how hard it was to find non-flannel pajamas in WI in August in 12 month size? Next to impossible.
As I was shopping and looking at clothes for her it hit me. My little girl is no longer a newborn in the eyes of fashion anymore. She is a big girl. Her pajamas don't come in packs of three anymore and the clothing choices are less baby cute and more little girl cute. It is fabulous and sad all at the same time. Fabulous because she is thriving and growing and sad because it is all happening so fast. 3 months ago she could still wear 0-3 month clothes....

Peanut is not a Peanut anymore :)
So we had to take Peanut to the doctor today. She is catching up on some shots. Let me tell you my little Peanut is not such a Peanut anymore.
Weight: 16.7lbs (27th percentile)
Height: 27 inches (59th percentile)
Head circumference: 42 inches (14th percentile)
Almost 2 months ago back in May, Miss Peanut weighed 13lbs and was 25.5 inches long. WOW. A little TLC can go a long way.
I tried to guess how much she was going to weigh and I guessed 15 1/2 lbs. Boy was I wrong. She is getting so big.
She sits, she stands, she rolls, she eats, she sleeps. I am in awe and so in love with my perfect little girl. She fits right in. She is stubborn at times (like both her mom and her dad) and she is independent and curious and funny. I truly believe she was meant to be our daughter. God definitely had a hand in this and we will forever be thankful for our little (or not so little) Peanut.

Perfect baby???
Ok--most mom's will tell you that their child is perfect and yes I am going to be one of them.
We have been home almost a week and things are going WAY better than expected. Sure the first couple of nights took some getting used to and last night both Dave and I were like we have a daughter; this is the real deal no one can take her away. Oh My!
Jet lag seems to be gone. Miss Peanut is sleeping 8-9 hours a night. Some nights she wakes herself at 2am or 4am with a little scream and then back to sleep she goes. The first few times that happened I hopped out of bed to check on her and as I walked into her room she was sucking on her fingers, quiet and asleep.
She eats like a champ. Mostly formula and then rice cereal and baby food to supplement. Carrots are a crowd pleaser; she just loves them. Peaches are a work in progress. We will try squash or sweet potatoes next. It sure will be nice to get a list of foods she can eat. This whole eating the same food for a few days to make sure there isn't an allergy is kind of boring but necessary.
We thought for sure we were going to have sleep issues, food issues and maybe illness/parasite issues when we got home. I would say for now the sleep issues have resolved. The food issues are still there in that she can't eat fast enough but it is getting better. The illness/parasite stuff is a work in progress. She came home with an ear infection (though she was an angel all the way home) and we are testing her still for parasites but from what I read I would think we would be able to smell/tell if she has them and we don't think she does but testing just to be sure.
Our pediatrician is FABULOUS! She was so prepared and knew just what to test for in internationally adopted children. We are catching her up on the pneumonia vaccine but all others are listed as current and received in Ethiopia. We will run titers in July just to make sure since we are doing more blood work in July anyway. Peanut is now 13lbs (or was on Monday) and 25.5 inches long. She is on the CDC growth charts for height and barely for weight and not at all for head circumference. The doctor is not concerned. Peanut's head has followed along the same line since referral so it is growing and may just be a small head. Developmentally, the doc thinks Peanut is doing fabulous. She is a little weak in the legs so she gave us the number for the Birth to 3 program in our state so we can call and have her assessed and maybe start some physical therapy. Nothing terrible just hasn't had a lot of practice using those legs.
We truly have the most wonderful baby. She laughs, smiles, squeals and is most of the time a joy to be around. Beware if she is hungry as she has a set of lungs that are sure to tell you that she needs food and needs it now. Okay time for me to make some coffee while little one is down for her morning nap.

More good news
No we didn't pass court early but we are only 2 days away!!!
We got another growth update on Peanut! She gained over 2 lbs in the last month and now weighs in at just over 10 1/2 lbs. I am so excited!! She is starting to catch up at the pace the doctor likes to see. She is still tiny and only on the WHO charts for head circumference but her rate of growth overall has been tremendous and couple that with her reaching developmental milestones of average 4 month olds and we have one awesome little girl. I am so proud of her for figuring out how to drink from that cup and start packing on the pounds.
Other than that I am still staring at her beautiful face and realizing that this is all starting to happen. We could be on a plane in a little over a month or possibly less. WOW! I still have a lot to do but for now I am going to try not to stress out about our court date and enjoy the good news that has already come to me this week and hope and pray for more good news on Friday.

The last 24 hours....
To say that the last 24 hours have been a little rough is an understatement. I have a battle going on between my head and my heart.
A little background...we sent Peanut's latest measurements off to the doctor. She came back with a "mildly concerning" response. She was hoping to see more weight gain and overall growth. She said that Peanut is falling behind a little and we want to see her stay even or gain. We should watch things over the next month and then if not improved ask for additional medical evaluations to make sure we aren't missing something and then listed the things at that time we would check for which were kidney issues, metabolic disorders and mild/moderate cerebral palsy.
I spent time yesterday charting her growth on the CDC growth charts and the WHO growth charts, crying, reading and seeking some reassurance. Hence the battle that ensued.
My head is telling me that I picked this doctor because she would give me the worst case scenarios. She wants me to be prepared and worried and not take anything for granted. This is what I wanted. I wanted a doctor to give it to me straight and not sugar coat anything. I am grateful to know all of the possibilities.
That said, my heart disagrees. I am a new mom whose little girl is half way across the world. I haven't gotten any new pictures and only get monthly numbers about her growth. My heart took over yesterday and I cried for my little Peanut. I want so badly to be with her and to hold her and I can't and that just plain stinks.
So after some reading and some VERY kind words of reassurance from others who have been in my shoes my heart and head have aligned sort of. I am still a worried Momma but I have a better grasp on the things that could be and the things that are more likely to be.
For instance, head circumference is very difficult to measure accurately. We have asked for a new measurement to see what that comes back as. The stress of the environment that Peanut is in could also be affecting her growth. I have learned that growth is good. I have also learned that proportionally she is small across the board and that is okay. I know that she will need to catch up but also realize how important it is that she doesn't catch up too quickly. And most importantly, other babies her age and older with similar measurements have been just fine.
Part of the issue is we don't know if she was premature or what she weighed at birth and sometimes those things factor in when plotting growth. She also had a little tummy trouble upon arrival at the care center and was on medication so that could have been a factor as well.
All in all, I could not have survived yesterday without my fellow adoptive Moms. I learned a TON from them and their reassurance helped tremendously. I do have tremendous faith in the staff that is watching over her. They are AMAZING and I have been told that they are quick to pick up on things if they think there is an issue. I know that there still could be issues and I am okay with that. Peanut is our baby girl and we will do anything we have to for her. Now if they just let me get on a plane so I can go get her, we would be off and rolling.

30 days and 30 wonders
We are 30 days from our court date so in honor of Peanut here are 30 things that I wonder about her in no particular order.
1) I wonder what she smells like... may seem weird but I LOVE the smell of babies and miss the smell of formula in my house
2) if she will look like her birth mom
3) when she will call me Mama
4) if she will be sitting up when we meet her
5) if she will be scared when we first show up
6) if she will make that cute little grumpy face she is making in her referral photo (can't wait to post that)

Peanut, we love you and we miss you. We are getting that much closer to being with you as a family. Hang on baby girl, Mom and Dad will be there soon.
We did get our growth update on Peanut. She is 3 months old and weigh 8.7lbs and is 21.2 inches long. She gained over a pound and a half in the last month which is great. She also had a growth spurt which is great. Her head circumference is a little small and not on the charts which is a little concerning. We sent the info off to the doctor and are waiting to hear back from her.
