15 month update

We got a 15 month update on Sweet Katie. She is just too cute! It looks like she is walking and might just possibly be a thumb sucker. She weighs just under 21lbs and is almost 31 inches tall.

We are still hoping October will be the month our baby girl comes home. We are being told that the wait from referral to travel is 15-18 months. We hit one year in July. October is 15 months. We realize it could go beyond 15 months but are praying it doesn't. Kiya really wants to be a big sister and brush Katie's teeth and make her a pink birthday cake and share her toys. It is so cute to listen to Kiya talk about Katie.

We are finally starting to prepare for Katie's arrival. Our basement remodel started this week. Kiya is helping us pick out paint colors for her room and Katie's. Kiya has selected pink for her room. I knew should would, she is my girly girl. We are thinking a soft green with purple accents for Katie's room. So pink and green in Kiya's room and green and purple in Katie's and they will share the already purple bathroom. It will be very clear that we have two little girls living in this house. I can't wait.

3 wonderful magical years later

Unbelievably, 3 years ago we were in Ethiopia and this little girl was placed in my arms forever. My dreams came true that wonderful magical day. I finally after over 6 years of planning and trying and paperwork was a Mom. My little Peanut. She was real. We were finally together.

Then: My scared, confused and very tiny little girl

A few days after we got home, the smiles started to shine through.

And today: She is my sassy, feisty, smart and silly girl:

Hard to believe it has been 3 years already. I am truly truly blessed to be this little girls Mom. She lights up my life and sometimes drives me crazy but I wouldn't change a thing. I never dreamed when I set out to be a parent that adoption would be where I landed but I am so glad the path took us there. After all I now get to be a mom to the most amazing little girl. Life truly doesn't get much better than this. Ok well it will when I can say I get to be the Mom to two wonderfully amazing little girls.
