Scalp issues....uggh

Miss Kiya has something going on on her scalp. We have it narrowed down to three possibilities,

1)ringworm
2)psoriasis
3)dermatitis

We have no idea. It is VERY frustrating as there is no easy solution for this.

If we go with ringworm, we can treat with tea tree oil (which stinks by the way). The issue is it appears to be in more than one spot and Kiya's hair is so thick and wonderful that we aren't sure we would be getting it all. We could ask for oral medication but that is a treatment that last 6-8 weeks or more and is rough on the liver and kidneys. We are VERY hesitant to do this given especially her possible Hep C status.

Psoriasis and dermatitis we have really no idea what to do with. There is talk of shampoos etc. Not fun since we typically only use shampoo in Kiya's hair once per week....

We would hope it isn't ringworm. We are cautiously optimistic as Dave and I don't have ringworm and there is a decent chance we would have by now.

So what are going to do.....find a dermatologist and see if we can get some better answers. The plus side is it doesn't seem to be bothering Kiya much. Wish us luck....we are going to need it.

Our best wishes! Be warned that ringworm has a way of sneaking up on you... Just when you think it's gone for good it appears again! Both AJ and I have had it and now our son has it. I should buy stock in Lotrimin! Our oldest daughter has scalp issues - we put neosporin on her soars constantly and the doctor prescribed us a medicated shampoo that we use daily. Good Luck!

We feel you. I've got it on my face as a result of all the kissing I've done of a certain someone's head. It's a tough thing to get rid of.

hmm Menderina came home 2 months ago and she has something weird on her head too. My husband and I have not caught it so I don't really suspect ringworm. I wonder if it looks the same? Round, bubbly? email me at meuslex958(at)yahoo(dot)com and maybe we can compare? We tried Selsen blue but didn't seem to do anything. Good luck. Post if you find out what it is.
